Introduction of Everest Base Camp Helicopter Tour
Experience the excitement of changing your point of view and live a helicopter experience to discover Everest with our exclusive wallet-friendly Everest Base Camp Helicopter tour.
Our aerial adventure of the Everest Heli tour has something unique to offer. On our tour, you will be able to admire the gorgeously magical views of the rivers of Dudh Koshi and Bhote Koshi, and the mountains of the Khumbu Valley from a new perspective, and fly through the wonders of the UNESCO World Heritage of Sagarmatha National Park.
Our Everest Base Camp helicopter tour will be approximately 4 to 5 hours. You will fly with our skilled, licensed, and experienced professional pilot to the legendary landmarks of Khumbu: the Everest Base Camp at 5364 m, the Kala Patthar at 5644 m, and the Everest View Hotel at 3880 m.
During the flight, you will be provided with information about the area, its history, and its identity. You will be able to ask your most burning questions to our pilot about the enchanting region of Everest.
However, the bonus is the flight over the mystic and emblematic Everest Base Camp, followed by the helicopter landing at the legendary natural platform of the Kala Patthar.
Here, you will have the incredible views of some of the famous names in the Khumbu alpine landscape including Gaurishankar (7,134 m), Khumbu Glacier (7600 m), Ama Dablam (6,812 m), Lhotse (8,516 m), Ganesh (7,422 m), Khumbu Icefall (5486 m), Kanchenjunga (8,586 m), Nuptse (7,851 m), Lobuche (6,119 m), Pumori (7,161 m), Manaslu (8,163 m), Changtse (7,583 m), Khumbutse (6,636 m), Langtang (7,246 m), and of course, Everest (8,848 m).
Then our Everest helicopter tour with landing will continue onward with a one-hour landing at the Everest View Hotel, reputed as the tallest one in the world.
If you also want to meet the very well-known open-minded Sherpas, we hear you. You will not only see them from above but also interact with them when you are at Everest View Hotel or at Pheriche Village.
Generally, our Everest Base Camp helicopter tour departs with a maximum of five passengers, so you have a comfortable experience. It is also possible to book our private Everest Base Camp helicopter tour so you can travel alone, as a couple, or as a family.
Nomad Adventure Treks’ friendly staff will guide you to the TIA helicopter terminal, where you will receive a short safety briefing from our pilot. You will then take your place in the comfortable, large helicopter and take a flight around the Khumbu.
After you experience all the scheduled landings, you will again travel back to TIA, where you will be accompanied by our pick-up service to your accommodation in Kathmandu.

Detail Itinerary of Everest Base Camp Helicopter Tour
Day 01:
5:30 AM: Transfer from your hotel to the TIA Domestic Terminal
Embrace yourself for our fascinating Everest Base Camp helicopter tour, which sets off today this morning. Once the clock hits 5:30 AM, you will find a Nomad Adventure Treks guide waiting to escort you to TIA.
We kindly request you to recheck if you have carried all that is needed for our Everest Base Camp helicopter tour: your passport, warm clothing, water bottle, sunglasses, hat, gloves, and lip balm.
Once you are ready, we will drive you privately towards TIA, where we will arrive in around half an hour.
6:00 AM: TIA Check In
Once we are inside TIA, we will get straight to managing all the formalities so we can head on time to Lukla. Weighing and examining our papers will be carried out within thirty minutes, after which we will get our boarding passes.
We will now wait for the approval from TIA personnel to get aboard. Once they are satisfied with the heli and the climatic conditions, we will move ahead to the helipad, where we will get to know our lead pilot.
He will shortly explain about all the safety precautions that we will have to follow, such as putting on headphones and communicating, closing and opening the heli door, getting in and out safely, etc.
Once done, we will be inside the heli waiting to soar in the sky towards Lukla. Kindly understand that we will be swapping the window seats frequently so every passenger gets an equal opportunity to admire Everest and its landscape.
6:30 AM: Onward Heli Flight to Lukla (2860 m), 45 minutes
From TIA sky, our heli will be directed towards the East, and slowly Ganesh, Dorje Lhakpa, Langtang, Kanchenjunga, and Manaslu will begin to introduce themselves. Our pilot will keep on sharing some interesting trivia as well, and he will also tell you about which Himalayan peaks you are seeing.
Before long, the 3550 m height of Lamjura La Pass will emerge beyond the clouds. The precious white Himalayan necklace made from Nuptse, Everest, and Lhotse is not far behind.
Our heli will then be directed to the north as it prepares to land safely and softly along the 527 m long slope of Lukla runway.
7:15 AM: Transit at Lukla for 10 minutes
In Lukla, we will make a brief transit of around 10 minutes to refuel the heli tank. Till then, we will let ourselves dwell in the Lukla Air in the presence of mighty Kongde Ri (6187 m).
7:25 AM: Onward Heli Flight to Pheriche (4200 m), Group Division (Not Necessary in Private Tour)
Here comes the real, authentic Khumbu Valley as we progress onward toward Pheriche. Listening to our pilot’s fascinating tales, we will begin to look beneath the famous Everest Base Camp trail dotted with green and pink rhododendron forests.
The current of Dudh Koshi seems very energetic from above, and soon enough, the blue-tiled houses of Namche Hill wave at us from below. Phortse and Tengboche Villages seem captivating, particularly the red and yellow building of the monastery seems catchy.
See Ama Dablam now, the most stunningly gorgeous and the dream Himalayan Peak of countless climbers. Pangboche Village is also not far behind in catching our glimpse, and soon the rocky leveled helipad of Pheriche arrives.
If you are on a private tour or if our group contains 2 to 3 passengers only, then Pheriche landing will not take place. However, if we have 5 passengers flying together, then Pheriche landing and group split is a necessary measure.
Once exceeding the 4000 m altitude, the heli’s capability of weight carrying reduces to half, limiting it to 250 kg only. That’s why our pilot will break the group in two and take one group further towards while the other group will be at Pheriche.
8:00 AM: Onward above Everest Base Camp (5364 m) and 10 to 15 minutes landing at Kala Patthar (5644 m)
From Pheriche, our heli will fly over Dusa, Dughla, and then Dughla Pass (4830 m). The massive pile of prayer flags keeps dancing in the breeze, and we can also see the stones erected in memory of the souls lost in the Himalayas.
Notice how the forests are now being replaced by huge rocks and boulders as we pass above the Lobuche and Gorakshep settlements. Gorakshep is the final lodge town for the classic EBC hikers before they proceed onward to EBC and Kala Patthar.
Everest Base Camp, the record-setting and seeing site before the Everest climbing expedition is within our vision. The fiery Khumbu Icefall lies just in front of it, while Nuptse, Pumori, Khumbutse, and Lhotse all line up in series.
In around ten minutes, we will be gradually landing at the flat plateau of the black Kala Patthar. Enjoy the 15-minute pause among your Himalayan companions of Ama Dablam, Lobuche, Nuptse, Lingtren, Lhotse, Changtse, Pumori, Khumbutse, and of course, the Everest Almighty.
8:20 AM: Heli Flight to Everest View Hotel Helipad over the Syangboche Hill, 3880 m, Himalayan Dining, 1 hour
The unique pleasure of dining on the terrace of the Everest View Hotel, the tallest in the world proven by the Guinness World Records of 2004, awaits us now.
For one hour precisely, we will eat and drink all the moment encircled by Nuptse, Thamserku, Taboche, Cholatse, Lhotse, Ama Dablam, and once again Everest. Meanwhile, our pilot will head back to Pheriche to pick up the other group.
9:20 AM: Heli Flight back to TIA via Lukla
After an hour astounding Himalayan break, we will now set forth back to Kathmandu, where we may have a short pause at Lukla again.
10:20 AM: TIA to your Hotel Transfer
After going through the usual procedures at TIA, we will then take you back to your accommodation. You will also receive a tour completion certificate from Nomad Adventure Treks.

100 percent safety with Entertainment
Once you are with us on the Everest Heli Tour, you will be in the hands of a competent professional. Before each take-off, the operating helicopter goes through the careful scrutiny of our team of technicians and that of TIA.
Only after clearance from the authorities will you be able to take the tour. And for our pilots, they have conducted these types of tours for several years.
They are licensed professionals, highly motivated, and have gained extensive knowledge about the terrain of the Khumbu. Since safety also comes from the conduct of our passengers, we ensure you are clearly guided on the necessary precautions during the Everest Heli Tour.
Additionally, the jolly nature and the fascinating trivia and stories that our pilots share will not let your helicopter tour go monotonous.
Usage of only safe and modern Helicopters
Helicopters chosen for such Everest Base Camp tours are different for they are the specialized choppers that possess remarkable engines, strength, and updated systems that can conquer the mighty altitudes of the Himalayas and their terrain.
Plus, all the choppers that we select for you contain large windows so you can admire the Khumbu beauty with utmost clarity.
Three guaranteed landings with one optional bonus
In our Everest Heli tour, you will have three phenomenal landings at Lukla, Kala Patthar, and the Everest View Hotel. In case of a larger group or if you wish on a private tour, you can also experience the landing at the natural helipad of Pheriche, the breathtaking Sherpa Hamlet.
Experience Everest as a trekker
Only the hikers and climbers aiming for Everest can reach and stand up to the Khumbu Icefall. But with our Everest Base Camp Helicopter tour, you can be simply a normal passenger, and you can feel the fiery Khumbu Icefall in close proximity.
No need to wait in queue for your turn
Our Everest Base Camp helicopter tour with landing operates almost daily throughout the season. So it is up to you if you like to see the winter Everest, the lively spring one, the faded autumn Everest, or the wet monsoon one.
There is no need for you to set a specific time or date for the tour. You can simply pack your bag and book the tour, even if you are in Kathmandu for a single day.
Group or Private Everest Base Camp Helicopter Tour with Landing
We aim to offer each guest complete satisfaction, and so we provide tailor-made group or private tours and trips. We do not believe in cheap tours; rather, we believe in offering those that are worth the investment of each guest.
Therefore, whether you choose a group or private Everest Base Camp helicopter tour, our top-class service and 100 percent satisfaction are guaranteed.
In our group Everest Heli tour, we limit the number of our traveling guests in a helicopter up to 5, so each of you has a comfortable experience even when touring in a group.
You will share this tour with like-minded people who have the same aim of seeing Everest in the shortest available time. If you like to travel alone, with family, as a couple, or in a close, intimate group, then a private Everest Base Camp helicopter tour will be the ideal choice.
The private tour offers you a great level of flexibility, even when in the air. You will be able to travel at your own time and pace, make stops as long as you wish, make reels, capture pictures and videos at any spot you desire, and above all, get the full undiverted attention of the pilot and the guide.
Additionally, in a private tour, the helicopter will be lighter, so you can fly up to 7000 m altitude into the sky. However, in a group tour, such flexibility is somewhat limited. You will often need to adhere to the timeline that we have planned, which may not align with what you prefer, as we have to consider the liking of each of our guests.
However, a private tour can be more pricey as all costs of the tour will fall on you. On the other hand, in a group tour, all the tour expenses will be distributed equally among all passengers.
But private tours will be more personal, and group tours will be more like a social event. So, if you are up for the wallet-friendly option, go for the group tour, else private tour will be ideal for an intimate and personalized experience.
Everest Base Camp Helicopter tour or the Everest Base Camp trek
Both the Everest Base Camp trek and the Everest Base Camp helicopter tour’s ultimate aim is to take you to Kala Patthar, where both hikers and helicopter passengers will have ten to fifteen minutes to remain in the sacred Himalayan ground.
However, the Everest Base Camp trek will allow you to walk in a location on Earth that has been reserved only for Everest climbers, while the Everest Heli tour will only let you feel the essence of EBC from the sky.
But both the heli tour and the trek will provide the phenomenal spectacle of Everest and other Khumbu peaks. However, the EBC trek will allow you to connect personally not only with the mountains but also with the people, culture, and nature.
For at least 14 days, you will live, eat, and breathe alongside the Sherpas, gaining a deep understanding of their Buddhist faith. And, once you are through the EBC trek, you can also extend your adventure to Gokyo, Three Everest Passes, or other peaks like Island Peak and Lobuche.
On the other hand, the Everest Base Camp helicopter tour won’t need you to walk long and hard or compromise any of your comforts. From the Everest View Hotel to Kala Patthar, your Everest Base Camp helicopter tour with landing offers you a fulfilling immersion.
So if you have a very short holiday time, have some health issues, or find it hard to walk, then the Everest Base Camp Helicopter tour is made for you.
If you can give some time to Nepal and wish to have more immersion in Everest, then the EBC trek will be your best option. Here, we want to highlight that both the EBC trek and the Everest Base Camp helicopter tour are more or less of the same budget.
Best Season for the Everest Base Camp Helicopter Tour
Our Everest Base Camp helicopter tour runs daily every morning in all seasons. Each season will allow you to view Everest and Khumbu from a different perspective.
However, this tour is mainly about sightseeing and an exceptional landing experience at the breathtaking locations existing on the planet. It means you need to have dry and constantly stable weather, excellent visibility, no rain and clouds, and the most attractive terrain.
Only two seasons can offer you all these, which are the festive autumn months between September to November, and the transitional spring months from March to May.
The winter mornings from December to February can be densely foggy, resulting in delays in the Helicopter flights; however, once our daytime star shines, you will have the unimaginable clearest views.
The summer and the monsoon mornings between June to August will surely test your resilience and patience with the recurring flight delays or postponements. However, you will get the perfect tour window as not all days will rain.
Everest Heli Tour Difficulties and Who Could Come
Our Everest Heli tour is not difficult rather, it is the safest, shortest, and most complete journey to Everest that is accessible to most people. The absence of long hikes, difficult and hard terrain, basic comforts, and the excessive Acute Mountain Sickness risk make this an effortless adventure towards Everest.
People between 5 and 80 years old can easily engage in our Everest Base Camp Helicopter tour on any day preferred. However, those who have mobility issues, a fear of heights and flights, and are prone to motion sickness may find this tour a bit tough for them.
However, we do suggest not to let your fears escape this incredible chance to see Everest effortlessly. For motion sickness, some counter medicines can help, such as Dramamine.
And, if you have serious health concerns associated with your lungs and heart, please talk clearly with your doctor and get his approval before the tour.
Altitude Sickness/Acute Mountain Sickness (AMS) and Acclimatization
Altitude Sickness, aka the Acute Mountain Sickness, is not a disease, and it cannot be foretold. It can affect any person from young to children to even a very athletic individual once they cross 2500 m of safe altitude.
Our Everest Base Camp helicopter tour with landing will also travel above 4000 m once crossing Lukla. You will have a 15-minute landing at Kala Patthar, followed by one hour of eating and a break at Everest View Hotel at 3880 m.
However, long hiking is not involved, and the time at these altitudes is also deliberately constrained. This measure, to a larger extent, reduces the AMS threat in our tour, but we cannot guarantee its complete absence.
Mostly, our guests have experienced headaches, and some even have fatigue, nausea, and dizziness. In the slightest manifestation of any of these signs, our pilot will promptly supply you with oxygen.
Additionally, the automated oxygen system in the helicopter will also activate once it reaches 3000 m. So our Everest Base Camp tour with a helicopter landing is totally safe from the perspective of AMS.
If you wish none of a nuisance on the tour, take a Diamox tablet after breakfast and keep hydrating during the tour and on the flight.
Permits for the Everest Base Camp Helicopter Tour with Landing
Two very essential permits are required to do the Everest Base Camp helicopter tour in the Khumbu region. According to the Nepal tourism regulations, if you carry out any type of travel (tour, trek, or climbing) inside the Sagarmatha National Park of the Khumbu Valley, then you must have the park permit for the Sagarmatha National Park and the local permit for the Khumbu Municipality.
The permit for getting into the Sagarmatha National Park is available in Kathmandu from its Tourism Office at NPR 3000 for each passenger. However, instead of getting this permit in Kathmandu, we will get it at the Everest View Hotel along with the Khumbu Municipal Permit at 2000 NPR for each passenger.
A government representative will be at the hotel premises where you can make the payment on-site.
Travel Insurance
For our Everest Base Camp helicopter tour, travel insurance has not been made compulsory, but we really advise you to take out one that will refund you for the expenses that you may incur during the tour.
Even in the shortest time, like in our Everest Heli tour, you may suffer from any medical emergencies, loss, theft, or damage to your belongings, tour cancellation, and especially, you may go through unexpected events during the flight or accidents.
Thus, it is important that you take out the travel insurance including all this coverage, and especially ensure that your insurance has mandatory coverage for helicopter flights and rescue to the maximum limit of 5700 m altitude.
Frequently Asked Questions
Which one is a better tour for me: the Everest mountain flight or the Everest Base camp helicopter tour?
The Everest mountain flight will take you on a two-hour small aircraft flight over the Himalayas, including Everest, but it does not consist of any landing strategies. Plus, the windows will also be tiny, blocking you from taking stunning pictures. So if you like to land near Everest, then go for the Everest Base Camp Helicopter tour.
If we can get one hour at Everest View Hotel, then why not at Kala Patthar?
It is because Kala Patthar lies above 5500 m, which can pose the threat of AMS if you remain for a longer time.
Why can’t your heli also land for a short time at Everest Base Camp?
Landing by heli at EBC is not permitted by the government because of the very unstable terrain at EBC. Any triggering stimuli can result in a massive avalanche threatening the lives of climbers, trekkers, and ourselves.
Can my children and grandparents take the Everest Base Camp helicopter tour with landing?
Yes, younger to adult, anyone can come with you on our Everest Base Camp helicopter tour.
What will happen to your Everest Heli Tour in a bad climate?
Generally, our pilot will decide whether to continue on the tour based on the visibility, speed of wind, and cloud. So if he decides not to take off for safety, we will reschedule the Everest Heli tour, or you can get a refund based on our terms and conditions.
How many guests will sit in a helicopter during your Everest Base Camp helicopter tour with landing?
Up to five people may sit in a helicopter for the tour.
Can I select the helicopter seat for me?
All the window seats will be swapped regularly if you are touring in a group.
Will our pilot narrate when the tour will go on?
Yes, he will tell the trivia, stories, and legends, and will also name the Himalayas, you see.
