Introduction of India and Ladakh Tour – 9 Days
The India and Ladakh Tour combines the historic cities of Delhi and Agra with the high mountain landscapes of Ladakh. The trip starts with a stay in Delhi, followed by air travel to Leh where you take time to rest and acclimatise. Whereas Leh is around 3524m/11562ft, it is good to acclimatise the body before going on mountain sightseeing.
The Ladakh section includes some of the region’s well-known valleys, mountain passes, monasteries and lakes. From Leh, the route continues towards Nubra Valley through Khardung La. Visit Diskit Monastery and the dunes of Hunder, with an optional Bactrian camel ride, in Nubra. The journey then continues towards Pangong Lake (4,350 m / 14,272 ft). Time is provided to enjoy the lakeside scenery before returning to Leh through Chang La.
A separate day is dedicated to Sham Valley, covering Gurudwara Pathar Sahib, Magnetic Hill, the Indus and Zanskar river confluence, Alchi Monastery and Likir Monastery. These visits will introduce the region’s religious, cultural and natural features without necessitating long walks and trekking.
Once you complete the Ladakh part, you will be back in Delhi and then go to Agra by road. The Agra section focuses on the Taj Mahal and Agra Fort, with optional time for Mehtab Bagh depending on the day’s schedule. This is a varied journey with the high mountain region of Ladakh followed by the historic Mughal sites of Agra and the travel programme is kept simple.
Ladakh tour from Delhi will be a sightseeing trip, though a private vehicle will be used for the tour of the mountain roads. There are many drives that take hours as they cross out-of-the-way valleys and high mountain passes. This route is therefore more a journey of landscape, culture and historic sites than of physical travel.
Accommodation in 3-star hotels and tourist-suitable accommodation as per the tour programme. During the Ladakh portion, breakfast and dinner are included and in Agra the accommodation is with breakfast. Nomad Adventure Treks coordinates the arrangements for the planned transport, accommodation, sightseeing assistance and necessary permits, leaving the travellers free to enjoy the trip.

Detail Information about India and Ladakh Tour – 9 Days
Best Time to Visit India and Ladakh
The most favorable time for an India and Ladakh Tour is from May to September. The road network is generally available during these months, the main roads between Leh and Nubra Valley and Pangong Lake are usually open. However, these roads can be closed at times depending on the weather conditions.
| Month | Leh Weather | Nubra Valley | Pangong Lake | Road Conditions | Suitability |
| January | Very cold, often below 0°C | Very cold | Freezing, often frozen | Difficult | Limited winter travel |
| February | Very cold | Very cold | Freezing | Difficult | Limited winter travel |
| March | Cold, gradually warming | Cold | Very cold | Variable | Limited |
| April | Cool days, cold nights | Mild days, cold nights | Very cold | Improving | Moderate |
| May | Pleasant days, cold nights | Warmer | Cold | Main routes begin opening | Good |
| June | Mild to warm days | Warm | Cool to cold | Generally accessible | Very good |
| July | Warm days, cool nights | Warm | Cool | Generally accessible | Very good |
| August | Mild to warm | Warm | Cool | Generally accessible | Very good |
| September | Mild days, colder nights | Pleasant | Cold nights | Generally accessible | Very good |
| October | Cool to cold | Cold | Very cold | Some routes become difficult | Moderate |
| November | Very cold | Very cold | Freezing | Difficult | Limited |
| December | Very cold | Very cold | Freezing | Difficult | Limited |
This is a very practical trip in the summer months, from June to September. The dates of your proposed trip (late June and early July) are in the peak tour season for Ladakh. Road access is always dependent upon the weather and should always be checked just before setting out to one of these high passes.
Altitude and Acclimatization
The journey from Delhi to Leh is fast and dramatic, with altitude gradually increasing from the lowlands of Delhi to the high altitude of Leh (3524 m / 11562 ft), making this a valuable feature of this trip to Ladakh from Delhi. The first day is then strictly off.
| Location | Approximate Elevation | Altitude Level | Main Consideration |
| Delhi | 216 m / 709 ft | Low | Normal city conditions |
| Agra | 171 m / 561 ft | Low | Normal city conditions |
| Leh | 3,524 m / 11,562 ft | High | Main acclimatization point |
| Nubra Valley | Around 3,000–3,200 m / 9,843–10,499 ft | High | Lower sleeping altitude than Leh |
| Pangong Lake | Around 4,267–4,350 m / 13,999–14,272 ft | Very high | Spend only the planned time here |
| Khardung La | Around 5,359 m / 17,582 ft | Very high | Short stop recommended |
| Chang La | Around 5,360 m / 17,585 ft | Very high | Short stop recommended |
After Leh, Ladakh Tourism recommends travellers take a break after arrival and take some time to acclimatize before heading to higher elevations. Do not do heavy work, hydrate frequently and let the guide know if you get strong headaches, nausea, dizziness or trouble breathing.
They have a complete rest day after arrival and then go on to explore Nubra and Pangong which are higher than Leh.
Tour Difficulty
The Ladakh Travel Itinerary is not a trekking programme but a sightseeing tour. The journey will be mostly by private car, with only short walking while sightseeing at monasteries, viewpoints, markets and monuments.
| Factor | Difficulty | What to Expect |
| Trekking | None | No organised trekking |
| Walking | Easy to moderate | Short walks at attractions |
| Road travel | Moderate | Several long mountain drives |
| Altitude | Challenging | High sleeping and travelling elevations |
| High passes | Challenging | Brief stops at very high passes |
| Delhi and Agra heat | Moderate | Hot conditions in summer |
| Overall tour | Moderate | Mainly affected by altitude and road travel |
It is not physically demanding, but more about the altitude. Travellers must be at ease in a car, especially on the twisting mountain roads.
Anyone who has a medical condition should consult with his/her physician before traveling to altitude. Tour support will be provided by Nomad Adventure Treks and the local guide and driver will help with sightseeing and transport.
India Visa and Travel Documents
Unless exempted by a particular agreement, foreign nationals travelling to India will normally require a valid passport along with an appropriate Indian visa. An Indian e-Visa can be applied for online from the official government website by eligible travellers.
As per the official e-Visa information, the passport should be valid for a minimum of 6 months on the date of application and have at least two blank pages for immigration purposes. Travellers should also have onward or return travel arrangements where required.
Have all necessary documents, including passport, visa approval, travel plans and hotel and travel insurance information, with you during the journey. Always have a digital and print copy.
The visa requirements vary according to the nationality and may change; therefore, it is advisable to visit the official Indian government visa webpage before visiting India in 2027.
Permits and Entry Requirements
Certain regions in Ladakh are near the sensitive international borders and have extra restrictions on access. Foreign tourists may be able to visit the protected areas of Ladakh and restricted areas of Ladakh, such as the area around Nubra and Pangong, with the Protected Area Permit/Restricted Area Permit. The Ladakh Administration reviewed the current PAP and RAP framework in August 2026.
| Area | Access Consideration | Package Arrangement |
| Leh | Normal tourist access | Included |
| Sham Valley | Local access regulations apply | Arranged as required |
| Nubra Valley | Permit requirements may apply | Arranged by agency |
| Pangong Lake | Permit requirements may apply | Arranged by agency |
| Khardung La | Access controlled according to current conditions | Included |
| Chang La | Access controlled according to current conditions | Included |
Permits for the planned route are included in the package for Nomad Adventure Treks. These permits will not have to be arranged for travellers.
Requirements may change prior to your 2027 departure and the agency must reconfirm the permits that apply before departing for the tour.
Transportation and Domestic Flights
Transportation is a private road transfer plus a domestic flight. The Delhi to Leh flight saves a lot of time, while the Ladakh leg has been left by private vehicle due to the main attraction of Ladakh being scattered across the remote mountain valleys.
| Route | Transport | Approximate Distance | Approximate Time |
| Delhi to Leh | Domestic flight | About 625 km by air | 1.5 hrs |
| Leh local sightseeing | Private vehicle | Local roads | 5–6 hrs |
| Leh to Nubra | Private vehicle | About 150–160 km | 5–6 hrs |
| Nubra to Pangong | Private vehicle | About 150 km | 5–7 hrs |
| Pangong to Leh | Private vehicle | About 135–150 km | 5–6 hrs |
| Leh to Sham Valley | Private vehicle | About 120–140 km circuit | 5–6 hrs |
| Leh to Delhi | Domestic flight | About 625 km by air | 1.5 hrs |
| Delhi to Agra | Private vehicle | About 220–240 km | 4–4.5 hrs |
| Agra to Delhi | Private vehicle | About 220–240 km | 4–4.5 hrs |
The duration of the flights varies according to the airline timetable and conditions. Road trips to the mountains can be longer than anticipated due to traffic, road conditions, checkpoints, weather and sightseeing stops.
Accommodation
Accommodation is provided in Category 3 hotels as well as appropriate tourist accommodation, based on the itinerary. This tour consists of 4 nights in Leh, 1 night in Nubra Valley, 1 night at Pangong Lake and 2 nights in Agra.
| Destination | Nights | Accommodation |
| Leh | 4 | 3 star hotel |
| Nubra Valley | 1 | Hotel or suitable camp |
| Pangong Lake | 1 | Hotel, camp or suitable tourist accommodation |
| Agra | 2 | 3-star hotel |
Rooms are listed primarily on a double or twin-sharing basis, based on the package agreement. There will also be a separate room allocated to the Nepal translator as mentioned in the package.
The facilities in remote places in Ladakh can be less complex than the facilities in Leh, Delhi or Agra. The remote location and high altitude of Pangong may mean that accommodation has fewer facilities.
Food and Drinking Water
The meals are different for the Ladakh and Agra sections. Meal packages will be provided during the Ladakh part of the trip and a breakfast-only package is provided for the stay in Agra.
The cost of lunch is not covered in the price, so travellers should consider buying lunch during their sightseeing days and during longer road trips.
There are more restaurants available in Leh and Agra, but fewer in Nubra and Pangong. Use bottled water, filtered or properly treated water and do not use untreated water from streams or other natural water sources.
Especially after a flight to Leh, it is important to be well hydrated due to the high altitude.
Health, Safety and Travel Insurance
The primary health concern during the tour is the transition from low-altitude Delhi to Leh (3524 m / 11562 ft), so you should rest on the first day and avoid strenuous activities during that day so that your body gets acclimatized.
Travellers should consume water regularly, take appropriate precautions against exposure to strong sunlight and bring their necessary medicines with them. Different precautions are needed for cold weather in high passes and hot weather in Delhi and Agra.
Travel Insurance is strongly recommended. Your policy should include medical treatment, emergency assistance and trip interruption and evacuation for the destinations you are visiting.
Medical costs and evacuation to a different place are not covered in the package.
If you have a severe headache, you vomit several times, don’t walk clearly and you do not breathe well, let your guide know and do not go any further, but call for medical help.

Money, ATMs and Local Payments
The currency used all over the tour is the Indian Rupee (INR). Towards the Nubra Valley and Pangong Lake, the financial facilities become fewer; however, banks and ATMs are available.
