An early morning call will quickly awaken us to fly towards the charming little town of Lukla. Observing the Kanchenjunga, Everest, Langtang, and Ganesh massifs below, we will quickly experience the amazing landing at the small yet historic runway of the Lukla Airport.

Once outside, Mount Kongde Ri (6187 m) greets us with its shimmering look, and our local crew will also be standing beside us. Once we are done with the luggage distribution and breakfast, we will set on for the short downhill walk towards Phakding.

The Dudh Koshi riverbed will guide us through Chheplung, Chaurikharka, Thadokoshi, and Ghat Villages before we set foot in Phakding. Khumbila (5761 m) and Kusum Kanguru (6367 m) can be seen magnificently from here.

Kindly note that the Kathmandu-Lukla flight is often relocated to Manthali Airport at Ramechhap during the high air traffic load of spring and autumn.

Therefore, we may need to start our journey around midnight to travel via road for 4 to 5 hours toward Ramechhap, so be prepared for the early departure.

Detail Information about Luxury Everest Base Camp Trek with Helicopter Return

Why should you select EBC Trek with Heli Return Adventure?

It is because the luxury EBC trek comes with numerous advantages of its own. Since there is no need to hike back to Lukla from Gorakshep, you will save your precious time and effort on the way back.

So if you have a very constrained time, if you like to reach Everest Base Camp with the comfort but also with the adventure of a hike, and if you want to experience a stress free journey, then this trip is the one you are looking for.

Additionally, you will have the remarkable aerial vantage point of the entire Everest region from the comfortable metal cabin of a helicopter, where your experience will be shared among the small group members.

You will also get to know the brave-hearted yet honest Sherpa people, famous for their mountain adventures. You will discover their age-old Tibetan Buddhist customs, culture, monasteries, and, of course, cuisine.

You will also get the opportunity to walk through the unstable yet beautiful mountain terrain of Nepal. In spring, you will see the landscape entirely embellished with the pink rhododendrons.

And as for the achievement, you will stand on the historic ground of the Everest Base Camp itself, which is a remarkable feat in itself. And not to forget about the sensational Himalayan views throughout the route to bedazzle you and to remain in your memory for a long time to come.

Luxury Everest Base Camp Trek with Helicopter Return: Best Season

If you want to have the best experience of the 10-day Everest Base Camp trek with a heli return journey, then it is ideal to organize it in the autumn and spring in Nepal, running from September to November and March to May, respectively.

These seasons provide the most possible stable weather, clear skies, and moderate temperatures, creating the perfect atmosphere for trekking and helicopter flights.

Spring displays beautiful rhododendrons and lush landscapes, while autumn offers clear views and enjoyable trekking paths without snow or rain.

Winter, from December to February, on the other hand, covers the Everest trail with snow and ice, with cold temperatures, which can be tackled with the right gear and preparation. The warmer sunny days and the bluest sky, however, will balance out the chilly experience.

June, July, and August are the summer monsoon months, which are best to avoid due to heavy rains, thunderstorms, and the high probability of flight cancellations.

Luxury EBC Trek: Difficulty Level

Our luxury EBC trek is rated as a level 2 grade, which means the journey is of a moderate level of challenge. The hiking journey is eased with the moderate walking duration and high-quality accommodations in numerous Sherpa villages, except at Lobuche and Gorakshep.

However, it is still very important to recognize that there will be a demanding walking along the unstable mountain terrain with some steep inclination. Plus, the 5 to 7 hours of daily trekking stages will also test your endurance.

The trekking portion of the journey also involves significant altitude gain that ultimately concludes at 5364 m at EBC and 5644 m at Kala Patthar. So, the risks of unexpected climate change and altitude sickness must be taken into account.

Thankfully, the path to Everest Base Camp is less complicated, with excellent facilities along the way making the journey reachable to almost anyone desiring to see Everest.

Who can go on 10 Days Everest Base Camp Trek with a Heli Return journey?

If you are very eager to reach Everest Base Camp and experience the thrill of trekking through mountains but don’t want a lengthy and tough journey, then our luxury Everest Base Camp trek with Helicopter return will be an excellent choice for you.

This adventure is also suitable for those who have limited time and are looking for a distinctive adventure within the constraint time limit. So any healthy individual, schoolchildren, teenagers, families, and grandparents can come with us on this remarkable feat.

There is also no essential requirement for high-altitude walking or mountaineering experience so even a new trekker who wants to try out their luck in the high-altitude trekking can take part in our journey.

However, we strongly advise anyone with serious lung or heart conditions to talk to their doctor before undertaking this adventure, as hiking at higher altitudes may worsen such health issues.

Is there a concern about Acute Mountain Sickness/AMS in our Everest Base Camp Luxury Trekking Itinerary?

There is always concern about AMS in any type of high-altitude trekking destination, and so our luxury Everest Base Camp trek with Helicopter return trip is also no exception.

By the second day, you will be over 3000 m elevation, where the air already starts to have a low oxygen amount. The multi-day hike will then lead you to EBC with an overnight sleepover over the 5000 m mark at Gorakshep.

The air here has only one-third amount of oxygen than the normal level at sea level. Thus, it’s normal for our body to work harder to breathe more oxygen, resulting in altitude sickness.

The condition, most of the time, is very mild, manifesting with headache, vertigo, nausea, vomiting, nosebleeds, fatigue, and sometimes mild swelling in the hands and feet.

Such mild conditions of AMS can be treated with a proper and adequate amount of rest. Otherwise, descending to lower ground may be needed. Please do not be late to notify our guide about your discomfort, he may administer oxygen if needed after assessing your condition.

Please entrust him as he has received a comprehensive first aid training and he is also very experienced and knowledgeable in handling such circumstances.

For the throbbing pain in the head, you can take Ibuprofen or Aspirin. For the overall acclimatization, we suggest to take Diamox when you are already in Kathmandu.

Please understand that the AMS is not related to age, gender, fitness, or experience, and can occur in anyone. To ease your journey and give you the chance for early adaptation to the Khumbu air, we have scheduled acclimatization days in Namche and Dingboche during the trek.

During these rest days, you can hike to Khumjung Village in Namche and ascend Nagarjun Peak at 5,050 m to help your body adjust to the thin air of the Khumbu region.

Necessary Preparation and Training

For our luxury Everest Base Camp trek with Helicopter return adventure, there is no need for any past climbing or hiking experience; however, it is a mountain adventure for which the right preparation is a must.

While there is no athletic fitness required, you should be active in your daily life. If you already are engaging in some exercise routine, then we suggest maintain that routine, focusing on leg workouts more.

However, if you are new to fitness, then we suggest you to carry out the activities that will build strength in your legs and muscles, preparing you for multi-day hikes.

You can consider working out with a professional, or if not, you can do some aerobic exercises on your own, such as walking, cycling, running, swimming, squats, star step-ups, push-ups, planks, and pull-ups.

Carry out these activities at least four days a week, and later on, you can go to spend your weekends hiking on nearby hills, preferably rising to 3000 m.

It will also be valuable if you get some knowledge about first aid basics and research the climate and terrain of Everest.

Sleeping and Dining Arrangements

Since the luxury EBC trek is all about comforts, we have handpicked for you a splendid five-star category hotel for your nights in Kathmandu. Here, you can enjoy the world-class services such as stylish bathrooms, spacious rooms, large bedding, Wi-Fi, a sauna, a gym, and many more.

During the trekking journey, we will arrange for you high-end premium lodges whenever possible, such as in Lukla, Phakding, Namche, and Dingboche.

The rooms will be twin-sharing among travelers of the same gender, and you can have your own bathroom with a private hot shower and WiFi as well.

As for dining arrangements, you will begin your morning with a high-quality breakfast in Kathmandu, leaving the choices for lunches and dinners on your own.

During the trekking part, we will take care of your three meals a day (dinners, lunches, and breakfasts). Please be assured that the meals will be perfectly organic and hygienic, along the vegetarian and non-vegetarian options.

Delight yourself every time with freshly prepared national and international cuisine such as sushi, pie, cakes, etc. National Nepali dishes featuring Dal, Vat, Momos, Thukpa, pasta etc will also be a pleasant change for your palate.

Transportation

Our transportation services during our 10 days Everest Base Camp trek with heli return include all your hotel and airport transfers (in and out) for both domestic and international flights.

We will also look after all your flight logistics between Kathmandu and Lukla or Ramechhap and Lukla. If a transfer to Ramechhap is required, a private ground vehicle will be at your disposal.

Additionally, we will manage the logistics of a helicopter ride from Gorakshep to Lukla.

Telephone and Internet/WiFi

For staying connected with your families and friends during the luxury EBC trek, you can get a virtual eSIM of Ncell or NTC before you depart for the trip. Once you are in Nepal, you can activate the network online.

Or, you can also get a SIM card from NTC or Ncell from any outlet when you are in Kathmandu. The network will be reliable till Tengboche, though it may become sporadic after this village.

As for WiFi, when you are in Lukla or Namche, you can get the prepaid cards of either Airlink or Everest Link. Their 10 GB data plan is one of the most popular choices, which comes with a validity period.

The high-end lodges also offer you their WiFi at a modest cost, and you can also find free WiFi along some of the routes and at the Everest View Hotel at Namche.

If WiFi isn’t available, you can depend on the 4G mobile internet of NTC or Ncell.

Travel Insurance

If you are considering participating in our luxury Everest Base Camp trek with a helicopter return trip, then please understand that travel insurance is a must-have requirement that will protect you against accidents, illnesses, injuries, or any unforeseen circumstances.

Although less complicated, the trip will take place in the mountains of Khumbu Valley, which comes with their inherent risks. Also, note that travel insurance is an obligatory element for our adventure.

So you must provide us with a copy of your insurance policy before we begin, as we need it to obtain the necessary permits on your behalf. When buying the travel insurance or if you already have one, make sure it covers you for any financial liabilities related to accidents, infections, illnesses, hospitalization, altitude sickness, and helicopter rescues if required.

Also, confirm that your policy includes coverage for mountain activities or trekking up to 5700 m for your complete protection. You should also consider to include extra coverage for lost luggage, trip cancellations, and extra accommodations.

Before you sign your policy, also make sure that your insurance is effective for the entire duration of your trip to Nepal.

Essential Permits for the Luxury Everest Base Camp Trek with Helicopter Return

Please keep in mind that you will not be able to go alone on the Everest Base Camp trek now. You must have the company of a locally registered guide, and the luxury EBC trek must be arranged through a registered trek and trip agency in Nepal, like us.

In terms of permits, we will be needing the permit to enter the National Park of Sagarmatha, available in the tourism board office in Kathmandu or at Lukla with the payment of NPR 3000 per individual.

We also must have the municipality permit for the Khumbu area available in Lukla at NPR 2000 per individual. Please know that all the linked fees and the necessary steps to get your permits are part of our package cost.
